newsletter - spring 2017

In September pad will be 10 years old! Over the last 10 years we have been involved in some very interesting projects - from small bespoke homes to large strategic masterplans - and we have worked alongside a wide range of clients and consultants, many of whom have become friends. The last ten years have been often exciting, occasionally baffling and always challenging for us all; however, with your assistance we have grown organically from two keen (but easily startled) employees based in a small home office to a team of fourteen robust unflappable professionals, working out of our current offices in the Tobacco Factory in Southville. We would like to thank you for your support over the last ten years and as a start to our anniversary celebrations (more to come) we have refreshed our website and would be very pleased if you find the time to visit and find out a bit more about us and what we do.

We are also very pleased to announce two promotions within the team. Ben Metcalfe has been promoted to Associate Director and Luke Gallagher has been promoted to Senior Part II Architectural Assistant.

Congratulations to Chiara Allegri on passing Esame Di Stato Architetto Senior (Italian Architecture Exams).

Tadpole Garden Village, Swindon

pad has just had approval for three further phases of development at Tadpole Garden Village comprising 121 dwellings. This now brings the total approved reserved matters on the site to over 1100 homes.

We have recently assisted with a Section 73 Application to enable additional new homes to be provided at the site, while respecting the established Crest Garden Village principles for this successful development, and are assisting with proposals for a Custom Build parcel.

South Sebastopol, Cwmbran

pad has been involved in several stages of this complex scheme in Wales. This has included design work which helped achieve outline planning permission (twice)! As well as a masterplan, which provides for 1200 new homes, a new local centre and tourist hub along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal, and significant parkland areas. We also have most recently produced a second development brief, this time for the Village Core, and further detailed design on the early phases.

South Cerney, Cotswolds

In 2012 pad gained reserved matters approval for 140 residential dwellings on a former aggregate industries site within the small Cotswold village of South Cerney. The development is now almost complete and provides a mix of 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedroom dwellings which have been designed to reflect the Cotswold character of the village. The new development provides public access across the site with pedestrian and cycle links between the east and west to the south of Station Road. It also provides public access to the existing woodland and lakes edge which will be a key asset for the whole village.

Dunstall Farm, Moreton-in-Marsh

pad has produced the detail design for a residential led development on land at Dunstall Farm, Moreton-in-Marsh. The full application for 150 dwellings was submitted in December 2016 and the proposals include a range of dwellings, as well as sheltered housing for elderly people. The proposed scheme makes reference to the existing context of Moreton-in-Marsh and implements local design details that will ensure the delivery of a unique and high quality development.
